The Meskwaki Nation hemp farm pays homage to the Earth’s natural rhythms and cycles. In the tradition of our ancestors, we take an indigenous, holistic approach that incorporates the design of sustainable and self-sufficient agricultural ecosystems that mimic the no-waste, closed-loop systems seen in nature. It involves using natural predators for pest control, among many other practices aimed at creating sustainable agricultural environments.
Ironically, our indigenous, sustainable approach to farming far exceeds “certified organic” standards. To simply meet those standards would represent a serious step backwards in our approach to farming. In this way, we don’t meet the bar, we define it.
